Desk Makeover: Bring Hollywood’s Desert Playground Indoors
Danielle Elderkin
Palm Springs is basically your cool aunt. The one who knows exactly where to find the most divine vintage steals and mixed cocktails. She’s eclectic but posh, glamorous but cool, and universally known for her rolodex of hidden desert treasures. At the Cover Story house, the blistering babe often serves as the inspiration behind photoshoots (just take a look at our Pinterest page), and today is no exception. Join us for the first in our series of desk makeovers. We couldn’t kick this one off without her.
Like all good makeovers, you need that classic before shot.
Fun fact: our resident social media maven Elena Kunkel boasts actually having a great aunt who once gallivanted the desert city with celebrity icons like Bob Hope. Rumor is they dated, but who can really say?
After:
We were so excited to score these festive cookie cutters that we used for fruit instead.
These macaroons found at our local eatery E.A.T. Marketplace are almost too pretty to eat.
If the “after” shot has you wanting to get in the car and hop on Highway 111, we feel you. That’s why our team is sharing a few of their favorite hot (literally) spots.
Cristin suggests staying at the Korakia Pensione or The Parker. Both hotels warrant one night’s stay, or at least endless scrolling on Instagram.
Elena can’t stop talking about The Fine Art of Design. It will make you feel like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s minus Cat. After you are famished from the calorie-cutting sport of shopping enjoy margs at Las Casuelas.
Danielle vicariously shops through some of her favorite PS bloggers like Kelly Go Lightly & Mrs. Lilien.
Michelle expresses herself through art. Be sure to download our free Palm Springs inspired screensavers below. Cover Story online boutique is coming soon and will have even more goodies to grab.
The flamingos are wearing shorts!
